e

r released from the Model Reservoir and from water released
"tM wate
I'll . "ation. Table VI shows the results of the estimated usable
;or I rr I 9
I ted runoff. For the 27 year study period, the average inter-
. n tercep
I dater amounted to 3,241 acre-feet per year with a minimum of
cepte w
d maximum of 10,124 acre-feet per year. By comparing Tables
zero an
d VI it can be determined that the total water diverted by the
II an '
Model system amounted to an average of 10,868 acre-feet per year with

70 percent diverted from the Purgatoire River and 30 percent inter-

cepted runoff.

Model Reservoir Storaqe Contents
-- Table VI I shows the first of month storage content of the Model
Reservoir for the period of 1950 through 1976. As discussed above,
the storage capacity of the reservoir has not been determined since
1946, at which time the capacity was 6,200 acre-feet. Additional
sedimentation has occurred since that measurement was made. The esti-

mated present capaci ty is about 5tOOO acre-feet. The water commi ss i onerl s
e records I ist a maximum storage contents of 6,642 acre-feet in 1958.
During that year an earth plug was, placed in the s pi I I way, raising the
~ximum water surface by about two feet.

e

Water Deliveries to Model Tract
Daily records of del iveries of water to the irrigated land under
the Model Ditch exist for the periods of 1956 through 1960 and 1972
through 1976. These records were prepared by Mr. Charles Wilkinson,
superintendent of MLI. The records, summarized in Table VI I I are a
summation of the measurements in nine Parshall flumes on laterals of
the Model Ditch. The flumes are purported to have measured all deliveries
of water for irrigation. Howevert the records do not include all deliveries
of water for stock or deliveries of intercepted runoff occurring after
tlrief local ized rain showers.
Table VI I I also shows annual del iveries of water for other years
for wh i ch da i I y divers i on records a re not ava i I ab I e. For these years
of record between 1942 and 1976 the water del iveries averaged 6t079
acre-feet per year with a maximum of 19,400 and a minimum of zero acre-
feet per year.

14

~
