Applicant, the Colorado Water Protective and <br /> <br />Development Association (referred to herein as "the Association") , <br /> <br />is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of Colorado <br /> <br />for the protection of wells and for the maximization of bene- <br /> <br />ficial use of water in the Arkansas River Basin under Colorado <br /> <br />law. While the number of members within the Association may <br /> <br />change from time to time, Exhibit A to the Application lists <br /> <br />the 321 present members who have responded to questionnaires <br /> <br />circulated by the Association and will be covered by the proposed <br /> <br />plan for augmentation. Exhibit A also lists the number of wells <br /> <br />of each such member (totaling 724), the registration number of <br />- <br /> <br />each well where applicable, the location of the well, the number <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />of the case in which the well was submitted to the Water Court, <br /> <br />the discharge of each well and the number of acres irrigated by <br /> <br />each member. <br /> <br />2. The address and phone number of Applicant are <br /> <br />c/o John Werme, Secretary-Treasurer, P. O. Box 7, North Avondale, <br /> <br />Colorado (549-4229). <br /> <br />3. A significant number of the Association's members <br /> <br />divert water through surface diversion facilities, as well as <br /> <br />through wells. Exhibit B describes the ditch and reservoir <br /> <br />companies in which the Association's members have an interest, <br /> <br />and the extent of that interest, as compiled from the question~ <br /> <br />~naires returned to the Association. According to a publication <br /> <br />authorized by the United States Geological Survey, Taylor and <br /> <br />Luckey, "\vater-Management Studies of a Stream-Aquifer System, <br /> <br />Arkansas River Valley, Colorado, II Vol. 12, No. 1 - Ground Water <br /> <br />,I <br /> <br />(1974), 80 percent of the total irrigation supply in the Arkansas <br />River Valley between 1959 and 1968 was furnished by surface <br /> <br />diversions and 20 percent by well diversions.
