The suggested network of about 3~ ground-based seeding

units is shown in Figure 5.8. Many of the units in the eastern
part of ~he division would be used for increasing snowpack
in the Wasatch Plateau. However, if the results of the Southern
Ctah program apply in the north as well, increases should
also occur in the valley locations.

Personnel requirements include a meteorologist (based
in Salt Lake City) and a part-time technician to assist in
network installation, ~aintenance, and removal.

Cost estimates for M1 and M2-type designs are given in
Table 5.8. The expected seeding increment is 20 percent (M2).

TABLE 5.8

Cost Estimates For Standby Seeding Operations
In The North Central Division

Cost Estimate (1000's of Dollars)

Expe ns~

M1
$ 37
0
5
19
0
14

M2

Labor

S 50
o
5
27
o
20

Aircraft
Ground seeding network
Seeding reimbursables
Ra wi nso nde s
Office, Data, Living
Allowance
Travel
Report s

2

1

4
1
...

Sub-Total
Loaded Total

$ 78
$100

$107
$135

5-26
