It

.

instrumentation and techniques will be more advanced in some ways.

Statistical studies will still be made in 1985 using appropriate parts
of the data sets in order to establish the context of the case studies.
The statistical studies will also allow some important comparisons of
1985 data with those of earlier years.
Table 1 lists the groups participating in the field program and the
instrumentation, observational capability, or other service each will
supply in the field. The Utah Division of Water Resources is the prime
contractor. The remaining groups are subcontractors to UDWR. They will
supply instrumentation and other capabilities for conventional meteoro-
logical observations, for tracing and tracking of the air flow toward,

over, and around the Tushar Mtns, and for remote sensing and surface

observations of the clouds and precipitation. North American Weather
Consultants is providing the Field Director for the program and the
Desert Research Institute is providing th4~ Field Scientist.
Figure 1 shows the locations of the Y'esearch instrumentation. Much
of the instrumentation is located on or near the Tushar Mtns in order to
provide high resolution information on thE~ clouds and precipitation.
This operations plan is organized as follows. Section 2 describes
the State of Utah operational cloud seeding project to be conducted
simultaneously with the research program. Section 3 outlines the orga-
nization, work schedule, and personnel requirements of the field
program. Section 4 describes the resealr"ch support, including weather
forecasts, that will be provided to the field program. Section 5 de-
scribes the seeding material delivery experiments. Section 6 describes
the cloud physics and kinematics experiments. Section 7 describes the
data management plan. Section 8 treats logistics matters.
