ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Such books as this are not the result of those who labor
alone to "vrite down important events and record his-
tory. Rather, they are the results of combined efforts to
achieve a common goal intended to benefit others. The
recording of the "FORT LYON CANAL" story is no dif-
ferent. It Vias achieved by a team effort to bring about
an accomplishment in a very short time span. From the
original meeting in Las Animas in April between this
writer. Amy Van Horn and Howard Bogner, approximately
one month has since passed. In the interim, Amy has
provided untold logistical support and has served as the
liaison between Fort Lyon Canal and this writer. Joe
Cline, Board President, has provided direction to the
overall layout of the book. Barbara Schwindt has as-
sisted in converting behveen two different
wordprocessing systems. Frankie Serna did the final
formatting for the printing process. Marie Johnson proof-
read portions of the manuscript. and my spouse, Kathy
Dodson, has assisted in being available for insundry
chores when needed. With the final product now in your
hands, I would be remiss to not mention the excellent
work done in 1910 by James Schuyler in preserving the
history of the company to that date. Truly, this has been
a team effort spanning over 85 years. ORD
