CDM

Section 3
Water Use and Forecasted Demands

This section describes Erie's annual water demands, water use by customer type, and
potable and non-potable uses. Forecasted annual water demands through 2025 are
also provided.

3.1 Current Water Use

Water use within a community is affected by a variety of factors including population,
land use, climate conditions, drought awareness, and conservation efforts. This
section describes Erie's water use from 1998 to 2006 and identifies how those demands
may have been influenced by the aforementioned factors.

3.1.1 Historical Annual Water Use

Figure 3-1 shows Erie's total annual water use from 2001 to 2006. Total water use
consists of potable, raw water and leases of non-potable water from other providers
(raw water/leases), and reclaimed water (Section 2.6 provides information on
reclaimed water). The raw water and leases consists of water used to irrigate Vista
Ridge from 2002 to 2006 and Erie Commons in 2006. Reclaimed water was also used
to irrigate Vista Ridge from 2002 to 2006.

4,000
3,500
G:: 3,000
~
Q) 2,500
en
:J
!.... 2,000
Q)
~ 1,500
ro
::::J
c 1,000
c
<(
500

o

2001

2002

2003

2004

2005

2006

o Potable Use

. Raw water diverted from Coal Creek to irrigate Vista Ridge was not available for 2003. It
was assumed 2003 diversions were the average of 2002 and 2004 diversions.
2. Raw water diverted from Marshall Lake-Community Ditch (FRICO) for irrigation of Vista
Ridge was not available for 2002 to 2004. It was assumed that annual diversions were 100
AFY for this period.
3. Raw water diversions for Vista Ridge also include irrigation and construction water.
Construction or irrigation water was not independently metered.

DRAFT

3-1

\\DENSVR1\PROJECTS\9228 - ERIE\CONSERVATION PLAN\REPORT\DRAFT PRIOR TO PUBLIC REVIEW\CONNIE FORMATTED\SECTION 3.DOC
