MolTat Collection System. all four of these problems can be addressed. The diagram
shown below illustrates this concept.

F.....lleId

,.-

'ii'
,', \ '
I' c:: i1"'~;
," " 'ff:"
;:', ,~ ~r~
"f~,:' 'f~

..
--

III. Hackground Information

A general policy of the IRP is that Denver Water will not expand its service area. Denver
Water dearly dclined a Combined Service Area (CSA) comprised of the City of Denver
and 78 suburban contract distributors (Figure 3). Denver Water committed to serve the
build-(lut needs of this area. and also to provide lixed amounts of water to certain entities
outside oCthe CSA. This l:lpproach makes it manageable to estimate the water needs as
gro....th within the CSA proceeds to build-out. Today. Denver Water provides water to
over 1.2 million customers whose average annual water demands arc 285.000 acre-feet.

Water Colleet;on System

The water collection system is delined as all diversion. collection and transmission
facilities that store and distribute source water prior to treatment. There arc three major
systems: the South Platte Collection System. the Roberts Tunnel Collection System and
the MolTat Tunnel Collection System, Locations oflhesc fucilities arc shown in Figure 2.
These three collection systems cun be grouped into hvo distinct delivery systems:

. The South System. which is comprised of the Roberts Tunnel Collection System
(including Dillon Reservoir) and the South Platte Collection System. These systems
deliver water to Foothills and Marston treatment plants.
. The North System. which is comprised of the Moffat Tunnel Collection System that
delivers water to the MotTat Treatment Plant.

The Roberts Tunnel Collection System includes Dillon Reservoir and Roberts Tunnel.
These facilities capture and store water from tributaries in the Blue River Basin and
subsequently deliver this water to the Eastern Slope for use in the Denver metropolit.m
area,

7
C\l),lI;um~ntsand !klhngs\,.,..pll.ocal SctllllpHtmpnOlry !nlC'mtl fll"\OIJ(150\M"trllISY~I~mllXl6OJ doc
