YAMPAlWHITE BASIN

Basinwide Conditions Assessment
The SWSI value of 0.4 indicates that for July the
basin water supplies were near normal. Flow at the gaging
station Yampa River at Steamboat was 342 cfs, as
compared to the long-term average of 407 cfs.
July was a very pleasant month for the basin. Warm
temperatures coupled with timely precipitation made for
almost ideal growing conditions. Toward the end of the
month, the monsoonal moisture flow resulted in increased
precipitation that, caused some delay in the start of the
harvest season. While some reservoirs were drawn down
for irrigation needs, most remained at or near capacity.

Outlook
Stream flows are expected to be near normal levels
in August.

Administrative/Manaaement Concems
No administrative problems are anticipated for
August.

Public Use Imoacts
Streams and rivers in the basin are at normal levels.

Aug-99

YAM>MiIHTEeASlNSWll HSltH\'

~2

w
::>
<i! 1
io

-3

...
Jan.lIO___.lInll4_____
f.DIlH/'l'EAA

YMPA RlIIER AT S"I'EAMlOAT, FlON BY W6.TER YEAR

700,000

./ ------
/
/ -
...-
I /
//
~ y

600,000
1
d;5OO,000
~
~ 400,000
-'
...
~ :m,000
S
i 200,000
::>
u
100.000

o
Oct Nov Dee .1M Fell Mirtt1 ApfI MIy J\.ne .tAy i'4Jg .
