The <br />following information is provided for consideration by response agencies and concerned parties. <br />Criteria for Monitoring Snowpack in Specific Areas <br />1. Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) of the snowpack within major watersheds <br />• SWE at 12D% of average or greater for watersheds of moderate concern <br />• SWE at 140% of average or greater for watersheds of high concern <br />• SWE at 160% of average or greater for watersheds of extremely high concern <br />2. History of snowmelt flpoding problems in watershed <br />3. Timing of likely runoff peak within snowmelt season -still too early to tell, and vvill be based <br />primarily on the absence or presence of spring heat waves <br />Specific Locations of Concern <br />~_ <br />1. Entire Rio Grande Bas'lin (Basin SWE at 164% of average) <br />2. Entire San Miguel, Dolores, Animas, San Juan River Basins (Basin SWE at 152% of average) <br />3. Entire Gunnison River Basins (Basin SWE at 145% of average) <br />4. ~ Entire Upper Colorado River Basin (Basin SWE at I29% of average, with some individual <br />subbasins notably higher) . <br />5. Entire Arkansas River $asin (Basin SWE at 14S% of average) -Note that snowxnelt is not <br />anticipated to cause problems on the Arkansas River mainstem below Pueblo Rest;rvoir <br />6. One subbasin within the South Platte River Basin <br />• .St. Vrain Creek Basin, tributary to South Platte River (subbasin SWE at 141 % of average) <br />Note: The above.
