The CWCB annually provides <br />information to Colorado communities and interested-citizens regazding flood potential, and Phis <br />yeaz is no exception. The CWCB's Flood Response Program is designed to address possible <br />flood threats in Colorado and high snowpack runoff conditions. Flood Outlook Reports are <br />prepared cooperatively with members of the Colorado Flood Task Force and are posted to the <br />CWCB website. Additionally,~communities within the state that have been identifieci as being at <br />risk are emailed the reports as ~an added preparation measure. The first meeting of th.e Colorado <br />- Flood Task Force for 2008 is scheduled for March 17, 2008 at the MRCS offices in ]Lakewood. <br />CWCB Sorin$ Flood Preparedness Activities <br />• Chair the Colorado Flood Task Force Meetings as needed to monitor and report on_ flood <br />threats. <br />• Distribute a press release reminding communities to be aware of flood threats and the <br />need for purchasing flood insurance. <br />• Generate SNODAS snowpack mapping to graphically display basin-specific snowmelt <br />flood potential <br />• Meet with local officials for flood preparedness during March and April. There will be <br />federal and state repres i tatives available to discuss technical assistance and flood related <br />programs. <br />• Post the daily Flood Threat Bulletin every morning, seven days a week, begiluung May <br />1st. This is the third year of this successful program. <br />• Other activities, which are posted on the CWCB website. - <br />Flood and Water Outlook Presentation <br />The current snowpack situation~~ along with weather outlooks for the runoff season will be <br />presented by staffmembers from the Watershed Protection and Flood Mitigation Section. <br />Information presented will be taken from discussions and presentations from the first: Flood Task <br />Force meeting, which will be held on March 17t1i. <br />Water Supply ProteMion • Flood Protection • Stream & Lake Protection • Water Supply Planning & Finance <br />Water Conservation {~ Brought Planning • Intrastate Water Management & Development <br />
