Giller <br />(760) 482-9610 <br /> <br />John Carter, Imperial Irrigation District (110) General <br />Counsel and lead negotiator, announced today that 110 <br />had joined the other three Southern California water <br />agencies to forward documents to their respective <br />boards for ratification when various conditions are <br />satisfied. The announcement came as part of a <br />presentation of these documents to Bennett Raley, <br />Assistant Secretary for Water and Science, in the U. S. <br />Department of the Interior (001) in Los Angeles. <br /> <br />"This is a momentous step to allow our conservation <br />and transfer agreement with San Diego to proceed and <br />to restore the interim supply of water to Southern <br />California for the next 15 years," said Lloyd Allen, 110 <br />Board President. "The attorneys have fully fleshed out <br />some 51 legal agreements among the agencies, not just <br />concept papers, which demonstrates California's <br />commitment to reaching our goal of reduced reliance on <br />the Colorado River." <br /> <br />"On behalf of the 110, I want to thank and compliment <br />the members of the state administration who were <br />crucial in the last seven weeks of intense negotiations <br />that has resulted in these 51 agreements among the <br />four water agencies," said Allen.
