B~~r:
Colorado Water Conservation Board
Water Conservation & Drought Planning Section
1313 Sherman Street, Room 721
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mrs. McCaig:
I am pleased to write a letter of support for the grant application that was submitted by the
Colorado Waterwise Council (CWWC) to fund an Executive Director for CWWC. The Northern
Colorado Water Conservancy District (Northern Water} believes that C W WC will be
instrumental in the coordination and implementation of water conservation efforts in Colorado,
and is also a key partner for the Colorado Water Conservation Board in the fulfillment of its
water conservation mission.
As a volunteer-based organization, CWWC needs dedicated staff to carry out its mission and
valuable programs such as the development of Best Management Practices, the promotion of
Xeriscape, and its outreach program. The Executive Director position will make the development
of membership value possible, which in turn will provide a source of sustainable funding for the
organization.
Northern Water is an active member of CWWC and is also represented on CWWC's Board.
Northern Water also has a representative on the membership committee and as such will provide
in-kind contributions to the grant at the level of 4 hours per months at a rate of $40/hr. Over the
two-year period covered by the grant, this represents $3,840 of in-kind contributions.
CWWC is an integral component of Northern Water's water conservation program. We believe
that water conservation efforts will only succeed through regional collaboration, exchange of
information, sharing of successes in the implementation of water conservation programs, and
promotion of a unified water conservation message-all of which are facilitated by CWWC's
activities.
For all these reasons, Northern Water strongly encourages the Colorado Water Conservation
Board to approve CWWC's grant application.
Sincerely,
~~
Alan Berryman
Assistant General Manager -Engineering Division
cps
