GimUel <br />) CWCB Director <br />DATE: March 19, 2008 DanMcAnliffe <br />CWCB Deputy Director <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item 15b, March 18-19, 2008 Board Meeting <br />Office of Water Conservation and Drought Planning --Water Efficiency <br />Grant Request -Colorado WaterWise Council -Executive Director <br />Introduction <br />The Colorado WaterWise Council (CWWC) is requesting $160,000, from the Water Efficiency <br />Grant Program to provide funding over atwo-year period to hire a contractor to fulfill the duties <br />of Executi~~e Director (ED). This position will focus on furthering the CWWC mission of <br />conservation action across Colorado by developing and delivering broad water conservation <br />programs and educational information to water pro~~iders, professionals, and other key <br />stakeholders across the State. <br />Recommendation <br />The OWCDP recommends that the Board award a Water Efficiency Grant in the amount of <br />$160,000 o~~er the next two years to CWWC to aid in achieving their goal to develop and deliver <br />broad water conservation programs and educational information, to be a clearinghouse for the <br />latest technical information and science on water conservation to water providers, professionals, <br />and other key stakeholders, and to foster additional partnership opportunities between the <br />CWWC and CWCB. <br />Summary of Proposal <br />The OWCDP received a Water Efficiency Grant application from Colorado WaterWise Council <br />(CWWC), anon-profit organization that is dedicated to being "The Voice of Colorado's Water <br />Conservation Community". The CWWC has promoted the efficient use of Colorado's water for <br />well over a decade, through its Xeriscape Colorado program, its support for Metro Mayors <br />Caucus Water Conservation Best Management Practices (BMPs), Colorado State Uni~~ersity's <br />(CSU) Water Conservation Trainings for Professionals, YARDX studies with the Bureau of <br />Reclamation, CSU and Green Industries of Colorado (GreenCO) Shrub and Turf Water Needs <br />studies, and by partnering with multiple water conservation agencies, including the CWCB.
