<br />W:eather, <br /> <br />, Imperial Valley enjoys a year- <br />round climate characterized by a <br />temperate fall, winter and spring and a <br />, harsh summer. Humidity often com- <br />bines with the Imperial Valley's nor- <br />mal high temperatures to produce a <br />moist, tropical atmosphere that fre- <br />quently seems ~otter than the ther- <br />mometer suggests. The highest tem- <br />perature on record, ,119 degrees, has <br />been recorded four times since 1914. <br />The lowest temperature ever recorded <br />Was 16 degrees. <br />The s\.tnshines, on the average, <br />more inthe Imperial Valley than any- <br />where else in the United States. Even <br />inDecembera.nd January, the sun <br />shines an average oEmore than eight <br />hours a day: <br />The, SO-year-average rainfall for <br />the Imperial Valley 1s2.95 inches. June <br />is the driest month of the year. Since <br /> <br />1914, only twice was'there measurable <br />rainfall during that month- 0.04 of an <br />inch on June 2, 1945, and 0.01 of an <br />inch on June IS, 1988. The period from <br />November through March is consid- ' <br />ered the "rainy" season. On the aver- <br />age there are 16 hours of rainfall dur- , <br />ing that period, a little more than three <br />hours a month. <br />Cool winter nights occasionally <br />produce overnight and morning frosts. <br />The only recorded snowfall of conse- <br />quence occurred in 1932.
