Operation Volume to release at Blue Mesa

BMRelOp = BMRelTot - RmBC - RmGT + RmSI

where:
BMRelOp = Blue Mesa operation release (Release in excess of demands) F6re.ec.slal (..c.,j1 r~j,l./~
RmBC = Remaining volume of water needed to meet Black Canyon needs - a e- 1-,._+ f I(~s.
RmGT = Remaining Gunnison Tunnel needs
________ _ n _ ~_~~:_Re1l1a~ngside inflows to Morrow Point and Crystal OJ' &,.t".,......,. c. rt") -! c!.,. rs.{_l.

Operation volume to be released at Crystal is:
CryRelOp = BMRelOp + RmSI

Dividing Crystal operation volume by days remaining in the forecast period determines the average
operation flow to released at Crystal until it is recomputed. This release is currently computed on the 1st,
8th, 15th, and 22nd of each month. One exception to this computation occurs in June and July. An estimate
of the average operation release for the fall (Aug - Dee) period is made based on average inflows and
demands and the current Blue Mesa content. If the fall estimate is larger than current spring estimate, the
fall estimate is used during June and July.

Blue Mesa daily release is then set to be "Canyon Requirement + Gunnison Tunnel Demand _ Side Inflow
to Crystal and Morrow Point + Crystal Operation Release". Blue Mesa daily release may be reset by other
constraints.

1. If desired Blue Mesa release results in Blue Mesa exceeding its maximum content, release is
increased.
2. Blue Mesa release is reduced if flow at Delta exceeded 14,000 cfs on the previous day. tte 15.% ..(f~
3. Blue Mesa release are increased if the minimum spawning flow, minimum incubation flow, oro r loco ""..j
the minimum canyon flow of300 cfs are not met. (can occur due to tunnel diversion changing)
5. During Ian-Mar releases are limited so that all releases at Crystal go through the powerplant.
6. Blue Mesa release will be increased, subject to downstream ramping criteria, if with the current
rate of fill, Blue Mesa would have less than 2 ft of storage space remaining at the end of 7 days. Release is
the minimum of 6000 cfs or the release which would result in having 2 ft of storage space remaining.

We.

cu~ -I-L

[0
Cil
@)

f!:> /Y} .fe-rye+ e Ie Vo.{~ tr eaJ Jt16..f~

ded: it> rnk c;:5uV'e... 7::nnd d-eWl~S M4iJ.
check:- c:S tk ~-au..J.s;
""' ek.e-/:;... ~U~/I~ ??

J -. ~
r ~)/J &v~"'r'__I(~.
