Dee Jan Feb Mar Apr May

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun

-Based on selcch:d stations

Very rapid melting of the snowpack in the Gunnison Basin has driven the snow measurements
from 77% of avcrage on May I, to only 26% of avcrage on June I, There is about 23% more
snow in the basin this year than at the same time last year. Measurements range from 43% of
average in the Surface Creek Watershed, to 23% of avcrage in the Uncompahgre Watershed,
Most of the measuring sites in the basin have completely meltcd oul. The amount of precipitation
during May was thc lowest monthly accumulation this water year, TIlere was only 32% of the
average monthly amount, and the total water year accumulation up to June I is only 87% of
average, Fortunately thc rcservoir storage in the basin continues to be above averagc, which is
more than can be said for reservoir storage in the other basins in the state, The combined storage
of the eight major rescrvoirs is 107% of average, which is 23% more than last year at this timc,
Streamflow forecasts throughout the basin have dropped signilicantiy from last month, Flows at
Grand Junction are now only 58% ofavcrage.
