Reservoir releases
from Fontenelle are now approximately 1600 cfs which is the maximum power plant capacity.

The April through July inflows into Fontenelle were well above normal this year. Inflows during this
period were 1.219 million acre feet which is 127 percent of normal. The forecasted inflows for
August call for 105,000 acre feet. As the inflows continue to decline, releases will be reduced in
order to conserve reservoir storage for water year 2000. The reservoir elevation will steadily decline
from now until approximately April 1, 2000. Fontenelle should be at its lowest level (about 6462
feet above sea level) at that time.

FlAMING GORGE - Average daily releases from Flaming Gorge Reservoir are now 2100 cfs.
Releases willlikelJ~main at or near 2100 cfs through the summer and fall months.
.}~:~-~

Some hour to hour:fluctuations in releases are now occurring. The amount of fluctuation is being
constrained by the 1992 Flaming Gorge Biological Opinion (FGBO) which states that flows on the
Green River near Jensen, Utah sh~l change by no more than plus or minus 12.5 percent of the daily
average flow for the day. Generally, the range (high to low) of fluctuations at Flaming Gorge is
about 1000 cfs on any given day.

Inflow to Flaming Gorge was much above average during this year's runoff season. Unregulated
inflow in June was 761,000 acre-fe~t._or 162 percent of average. July unregulated inflow was
325,000 acre-feet (123 percentof average). April through July unregulated inflow was 1,706,000
acre- feet (143 percent of

RECEIVED
AUG 1 6 1999

Colorado Water
Conservation Board
