<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />JCHA <br /> <br />5611i.rpt <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />(5) <br /> <br />(6) <br /> <br />Rueter-Hess Reservoir Project Description <br /> <br />March 1999 <br /> <br />There are sufficient in-basin water supplies to justify the construction of <br />Rueter-Hess Reservoir, including (a) in-priority Cherry Creek flows, (b) <br />advanced wastewater treatment effluent, (c) in-priority Newlin Gulch flows, <br />and (d) Denver Basin aquifer well pumping. <br /> <br />Imported water supplies, while not currently available for District use, can <br />expand the utility and water supply I:apability of Rueter-Hess Reservoir. <br /> <br />The reservoir can serve multiple purposes, including (a) difl~ct use for <br />municipal water supplies, (b) provide carryover storage that provides reliable <br />yield in dry years, (c) serve as a source for bedrock aquifer i.njection, and (d) <br />provide releases that can be utilized by downstream users on Cherry Creek. <br /> <br />Both the environmental and geotechnical studies necessary to get to the <br />construction phase are already under way, and none of these studies has <br />indicated fatal flaws which would preclude the development of the project. <br /> <br />-16- <br />
