<br />DB 05-1254 Grant Application to the C.olorado Water Conservation Board <br />Water Efficiency Grant Program <br /> <br />Applicant: Colorado WaterWise Council <br /> <br />Project Name: Contract Staff Position for the Colorado WaterWise COWlcil <br /> <br />Goal: Provide'project funding over a two-year period to hire a contractor to fulfill the <br />duties of Executive Director (E.D). This position will focus on furthering the Colorado <br />WaterWise Council's (CWWC) mission of conservation action across Colorado by <br />developing and delivering broad water conservation programs and educational <br />information to water providers, professionals, and other key stakeholders across the State. <br /> <br />Funds Requested: $160',000 <br />Matching Funds: $123,97~ <br /> <br />Contact: Esther Vincent, 970-622-2356, evincent@ncwcd.org <br />P.O. Bo'x 40202, Denver, CO 80204-0202 <br /> <br />Project Overview and Background <br />The Colorado WaterWise Council (CWWC) believes that Colorado should be a leader in <br />w.ater conservation practices due to the critical role water plays in our semi-arid <br />headwaters state. As an experienced nonprofit organization the CWWC is dedicated to <br />being "The Voice of Colorado's Water Conservation Community." <br /> <br />The CWWC has a proven reputation and has promoted the efficient use of Colorado's <br />water for well over a decade. The CWWC Board of Director's consist of fifteen volunteer <br />voting members, representing water utilities, environmental organizations, private <br />industry, and. water conservancy districts throughout the state. CWWC has over one <br />hundred members that have a keen interest in conservation and 'utilizing the state's water <br />resources wisely.. <br /> <br />CWWC is in an excellent position to fill the need for a water conservation leader, one <br />who will work with the CWCB to develop and deliver new, comprehensive statewide <br />teclmical resources, including a Best Management Practices (BMP) program. This <br />position will also work to enhance existing CWWC projects: an informative website, <br />educational programs, publications, and the current newsletter. The tools developed <br />through this position will be of benefit to all municipalities, water professionals, and <br />water providers throughout Colorado. <br /> <br />With continuing pressures from pop,ulation growth and climate change, Colorado water <br />providers need to access all available tools to meet the future water service needs of their <br />communities. To do this, they require reliable teclmical assistance~ and the training <br />necessary to put practices in place. The CWWC has the on-the-ground experience <br />
