The WMA was organized
in 1950 to cultivate a better understanding of weather modification techniques,
impacts, and expectations among program sponsors, program operators, and the
scientific community, and to promote ethical professional conduct and a free
exchange of information.

Our mission is: to promote research, promote high standards in field
experiments, serve as a clearinghouse for literature, develop policy statements,
and publish the Journal of Weather Modification containing scientific articles and
reports of weather modification.

The WMA membership includes representatives from Universities, state and
federal governments, private consultants, scientists, and many corporations
involved in weather activities. Our membership has representatives in over 23
states in the US and in 17 countries.

I believe I speak unanimously for all of our membership and constituents when I
state that advances in the field of weather modification through applied research
projects have far reaching benefits.

I also speak unanimously for our membership when I state that we supported S.
517 and H.R. 2995 in the 109th Congress. We also support the reintroduction,
passage, and funding of a similar bill that will answer the call of the nation and
develop a "coordinated national weather modification research program" through
the 11 Oth Congress.

Sincerely,

~fJ~

Tommy D.
