V. Description of Data and Software: South Platte Consumptive Use Model (SPCU)

Table 2: Water Budget Output from speD

Item Name Relationship Description
0 Carry-over Soil The Carry-over Soil Moisture from the previous month plus the Effective
Moisture (Calculated at Rainfall to Soil Storage (L) plus Total Water Supplies for CU (I) minus
the End of the Month) Irrigation Water Requirement (N). This value is calculated based on the
following conditions:
. If Carry-over Soil Moisture (0) is less than zero. then the value is
set to zero.
. If Carry-over Soil Moisture (0) is greater than zero but less than the
MAX value, then it is the normal calculation (i.e. Carry over from
prevo month + L + I - N).
. If Carry-over Soil Moisture (0) is greater than MAX. then the value
is set to MAX.
P Shortage [N -1-0] The shortage value is zero for scenarios where the groundwater is assumed
to meet all remaining IWR past that met from surface supplies or soil
moisture storage. If shortages are allowed. then the shortage is the Irrigation
Water Requirement (N) minus Total Water Supplies (I) minus Carry-over Soil
Moisture (0).
Q Depletion of Water [(0 - (Carry-over The Carry-over Soil Moisture (0) minus the carry-over storage from the
Supplies from Previous previous month plus the Effective Rainfall to Soil Storage (L) all added to
Month + L)) + (N Irrigation Water Requirement (N) minus the Available Soil Moisture (i.e.
- P)] Carry-over Soil Moisture (0) - Carry-over from Prevo Month + L).
R Additional Deep [1-0] This is the Total Water Supplies Available for CU (I) minus Depletion of
Percolation and Runoff Water Supplies (Q).
of Water Supplies
S Total Deep Percolation IE + H + R] Surface Water Deep Percolation and Runoff (E) plus Well Water Deep
and Runoff of Water Percolation and runoff (H) plus Additional Deep Percolation and Runoff of
Supplies Water Supplies (R).
T Depletion Met by Amount of surface water used to meet the IWR and to refill the soil moisture
Surface Water (if applicable).
U Depletion met by Amount of well pumping used to meet the IWR and refill the soil moisture in
Groundwater the case when well pumping is specified. If well pumping is not specified
then this represents the amount of water required to meet the IWR for a
month after all the surface water available for CU that has been allocated
and all the soil moisture used (if applicable).

Completion Report: South Platte Mapping and Analysis Program

25
