Given that we are tall<ing
about some important issues and a lot of money, I would prefer to reschedule the meeting. However,
here are my thoughts on the SB 1 79 applications:

1. I would prefer to continue the Bauer Lal<e application since we have already given the applicant some
funding.
2. I support the Town of Sawpit's application. I lG10W they really need these upgrades to their system,
and the request seems reasonable to me.
3. I have a lot of concerns about the amount of money being requested by the La Plata West Water
Authority, particularly from our basin account. I have been approached by 2 more municipalities --
one in Dolores and one in San Miguel -- who really need funding, and I am sure there are many others
out there. Your summary of requests and grants from our roundtable for funding was helpful, but it did
not include a summary of how much money we have available in our roundtable fund this year. I am
very concerned that if we approve the roundtable funds for LPWW A, we won't be able to fund other
worthy, smaller projects. It was my understanding that those projects were an important focus of the
SB 1 79 funds.

I also feel that for the amount of money being requested, we should have as many roundtable members
present as possible. Given the weather conditions, that is not lil<ely to occur today. Can we continue
these until our next meeting?
Thanl<s.
Jenny

On Jan 9, 2008, at 8:22 AM, Steve Harris wrote:

Roundtable Members,
Yesterday the weather lool<ed lil<e it would be OK today for driving but this morning is
not very good. Light snow in Durango, hard to say for this afternoon. The forecast is for
light snow. In order to meet the 60 day criteria to have funding approved by the
Roundtable before the CWCB meeting we have to act this weel<. Therefore I still plan to

file:11 /LI/Section%20Folders/IWMD/WSRA/Grant%20Applic... %202008/South W est/colnmentjennyrussellapplicaitons.htm (1 of 2)3/6/2008 11 :34:34 AM
