In this second data set, all sensor
noise will be screened out, and data problems flagged. Flags will be used to
mark periods affected by lIsnow dropsll, bucket drain and refill, or data con-
sidered unreliable and declared "missing". The original data will remain
available in the PROBE data base, but it is suggested that the edited data
base be used in all analyses.

It is anticipated that all gauge installations will be completed by mid Oct-
ober. Installation will include leveling of the gauges, proper alignment of
Alter shields, and a final, on-site calibration. Transmitted data will be
closely monitored throughout a 2-week long de-bug phase, and any observed
problems corrected prior to October 30, 1986.

Servicing of the gauge network will be done on an lias needed II basis. Stations
will be continuously monitored at the AFO, and servicing scheduled when a sta-
tion fails or as the buckets approach lIfullll. Proper allowance will be made
to ensure that gauge buckets have sufficient capacity to handle approaching
storms. Servicing necessitated by station fai lure wi 11 be carried out as
quickly as possible.

Routine servicing will include a brief inspection of the total gauge installa-
tion and a bucket drain followed by charging with an antifreeze mixture.
Gauge calibration will be checked during routine service visits, as time
allows. Whenever servicing requires powering down the station or replacement
of any module, service personnel will remain on site until signal transmission
is verified.

Data from various cooperating agencies will also be introduced into the SCPP
data base by the ScPP precipitation contractor.
