These changes have requ i red that the remote scope in Auburn
be modified and new hardware be installed in the radar for photographic work.
If these changes can be made in time, these systems will be utilized.
Reference will be made to these systems but it is understood they may not be
a vail ab 1 e .

Radar operational logs will be kept by the radar technician and operators
(fig. 3-3). All radar calibrations will be documented on the calibration
sheet (fig. 3-4). Recorded magnetic tape ID, start and stop times, and number
of records recorded will be documented (fig. 3-5). Video cassette recordings
with ID number and/or 35-mm film ID with start and stop times will be noted by
the AFO forecaster and radar operators respectively (fig. 3-6).

The scan sequence for the 1986-87 season during periods of aircraft operations
and/or fixed target experimental units will consist of a set volume scans.
The sampling rate will be 8 samples/bin, and elevation scan increments will be
every 0.50 from 1 to 6 or 90 depending on echo height.

The total scan sequence will take approximately 3 minutes. The scan sequence
can be programmed on the mi croprocessor and wi 11 operate automat i cally. Any
remaining time between the 5-minute automatic volume scan sequences will be
used for the manual RHl scan or other detailed looks at areas of interest.
RHl' s wi 11 be periodically recorded on tape. Assuming the scope is full a
magnetic tape recording will be filled in about 75 minutes. Because of new
radar scan capabilities, present scan sequences are subject to change.

During other radar operational periods, i.e. ground seeding operations, the
same radar volume scan sequence will be followed as described above but

II 1-7
