South Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes <br />February 12, 2008 <br />Weld County, Colorado <br />Please contact Lisa McVicker for any changes or corrections to the minutes: <br />mcvicker~gwest.net <br />NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, March 11 <br />Bill Jerke calls meeting to order at 4:20 pm <br />L Standard Reports: <br />• IBCC Report: Eric Wilkinson: Jan 7 meeting canceled; non- <br />consumptive needs assessment continuing in each basin; consumptive use <br />work groups last met in Augustloolang to next meeting in March to <br />focus on Colorado Water Availability study; memo available from Harris <br />Sherman which is distributed. <br />IBCC (at March 7 meeting in Denver) will engage in exercise of looking <br />forward 50 years to imagine what state will look like in 50 years; <br />worthwhile study: is there a better way to guide this to a better vision re: <br />competition between eastern plains (ag, large urban areas, significant <br />growth in mountain communities (highest % growth), oil shale and energy <br />boom, cutbacks in San Luis Valley and North Valley to balance their <br />water usage...this study asks questions of IBCC members for input. Thiiilc <br />back 50 years ago for point of reference. Please give comments to Mike <br />Shinullin and Eric Wilkinson. <br />Bill Jerke: How would you like the input? <br />Emails to Mike Shimmin and Eric Wilkinson <br />Mike Shimmin: Please send ideas. <br />Eric Hecox: We are still moving forward on consumptive work group; <br />taking demands out to 2050: IPP: Identified Projects and Processes to <br />2050. Interaction will be through Roundtables: interaction with <br />constituents to get data to move forward. <br />Bill Jerke: Challenges of looking at 2030 difficult; how to go forth to <br />2050? <br />Hecox: Real impacts are really going to be later on; for this reason need to <br />go forward looking to 2050 <br />CWCB Report: <br />Eric Wilkinson: Jan 22/23: CWCB meeting intense and focused. RE: <br />South Platte Basin: Board recommend $13.9 million in expenditures in <br />endangered species program to go to South Platte to move forward <br />operation of Tamarack Project (3 State Agreement); this follows $Smillion <br />dedicated in 2007; in 2009 hope to put another $4million and again in <br />2010 to put close to State's requirement in 2005 dollars; provision of <br />$1 nullion for threatened endangered species in threatened plains species; <br />
