(the ''District") received a letter from John <br />VanSciver of your staff asking whether the District wished to entertain the de-authorization <br />of funds for the San Miguel Project. The District's answer is a resounding NO. <br /> <br />\, <br /> <br />As you know, in our small community it has been a major struggle to develop a Welter <br />resources development project which has tbe support. of 100% of the residents and can be <br />reasonably funded. Just one of the reasons for the delay is that the District has been unable to <br />proceed dwing the last two years because of POli1ical differences between the T own of Norwood <br />and the Districfs constituency. That problem has been resolved by a recall of Town officials. <br />The new Town administration is working cooperativ1ely with all concerned and we believe we <br />have a window of opportunity in the next two ye~U's, With other federal legislation going <br />forward, to gamer Upper Basin Fund dollars along with local and StAte of Colorado funding to <br />produce a Project that can be built. <br /> <br />The District. therefore. sincerely requests that the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />not de-authorize funds dedicated to the San Miguel Project.
