.

.

-

1,423 to 2,169 acre-feet, will occur downstream of the Fort Lyon Canal. Average and maximum
annual stream depletions at essential water rights administration locations are shown in Table 1-1.
The replacement water recommended in this study will generally ensure that the replacement above
these locations will exceed the depletions. This ensures that there will be no injury to surface water
rights.

I TABLE 1-1
Colorado Water Protective and Develclpment Association
Well Pumping and Stream Depletions
(all values in acre-feElt)
[ij A vela! e Annual Maximum Annual
Stream Stream
No. Locatjon Pumpinq- Depletions Pumping Depletions
1 Above Pueblo Reservoir 220 60 255 68
2 Fountain Creek 3,257 1,252 4,095 1,514
3 Pueblo Reservoir to Fort Lyon Canal 49,24~1 14,022 80,953 22,697
4 Fort Lyon Canal to John Martin Reservoir 7,277 5,789 11.462 9,129
5 Other Tributaries and Streams 49B 646 645 1,104
TOTALS 60,494 21.,769 97.410 34,

v

Replacement Water
This feasibility study analyzed 27 different sources of replacement water. The water can be
grouped into five general classes.

1. Fryingpan-Arkansas Project first use and return flows.
2. Trans-basin water.
3. Decreed consumptive use water available from municipal water entities.
4. Decreed consumptive use water owned by private parties or water districts.
5. Agricultural water rights.

Several of the sources of replacement water are currently used in CWPDA's Rule 14 plan or have
been used in previous plans. The amount available by SOLlrces ranged from 23 to several thousand
acre-feet. The replacement water supplies that should be considered as a source of augmentation
water for CWPDA wells are listed in Table 1-2. The table lists the average and drought period yields,
a rating of the supply, and comments on each source.

CWPDA: See I

10/19/99

Page 3
