.

.

e

cWPDA FEASIBILITY STUDY

SECTION - III.A
Measured and Estimated Pumping for Rule 3 Wells (1996-2023)

Within Colorado Water Protective and Development Association (CWPDA), Rule 3 wells
comprise approximately 72 percent of all member wells and generally are categorized under User
Groups 1 through 14. To the extent it was available, measured pumping data for individual member
wells was used in this study. In addition to this actual historical pumping data, HI Model pumping
data developed by the State of Colorado as part of its Kansas-Colorado studies was used to determine
yearly trends for future well pumping. Inherent in the analysis was the assumption that historical
pumping trends and volumes are reflective of future pumping trends and volumes.

Available PumpinQ Data
Pumping data available for use in this study included the following:

1 . Measured data from June 1996 to March 1999 for all CWPDA member wells.

2. Total monthly and yearly amounts for individual HI Model wells for the periods 19>86 through
1994.

3. Total monthly and yearly amounts for all HI Model User Groups during the period 1950
through 1994.

The CWPDA membership database provided actual well pumping for all member wells over
the period June 1996 through March 1999. Pumping for each User Group was summed for the
periods April 1 through March 31 and is presented in Table III.A-1. (Note: April 1 through March
31 is commonly referred to as an Arkansas water year.) Overall, the average annual pumping for
Rule 3 wells has been 24,429 acre-feet. It is important to note that the 1996 data does not include
pumping for April and May since the plan year in 1996 did not begin until June 1.

CWPDA: Sec III.A

10/1 2/99

Page 1
