These soils
are moderately deep to deep, level to moderately sloping, poorly drained to somewhat
excessively drained sandy loams and clay loams formed in a mixed alluvium and eolian
deposits. Following is a more complete description of the soils as taken from the soil
survey.

Oacono series:

The Dacono series consists of deep, well drained soils tat formed in mixed alluvium
underlain by sand and gravel. Dacono soils are on terraces. Slopes are 0 to 3
percent. Dacono soils are similar to the Altvan and Nunn soils and are near the
Colombo and Haverson soils" Altvan soils are less than 35 percent clay in the B
horizon. Colombo and Haverson soils lack a Bt horizon. Nunn soils lack a sand
and gravel C horizon between 20 and 40 inches" Thickness of the solum ranges
from 16 to 40 inches. Coarse fragments make up less than 10 percent of the
solum" Depth to contrasting materials ranges from 22 to 34 inches.

Crops yields per acre in this series are typically: 5.5 tons of hay; 25 to 26 tons of
beets; 2400 pounds of dry pinto beans; and, 150 to 170 bushels of corn.

Fort Collins series:

The Fort Collins series consists of deep, well drained soils that formed in alluvium.
Fort Collins soils are on smooth plains and high terraces" Slopes are 0 to 3 percent.
Fort Collins soils are similar to the Olney soils and are nearthe Kim and Nunn soils.
Olney soils are more than 35 percent fine and coarser sand in thl3 Band C
horizons. Kim soils lack a B horizon" Nunn soils are more than 35 percent clay in
the B2t horizon. Thickness of the solum ranges from 18 to 30 inches. Coarse
fragments make up 0 to 5 percent of the solum" Depth to free carbonates ranges
from 8 to 20 inches.

Crops yields per acre in this series are typically: 5.5 tons of hay; 23 to 24 tons of
beets; 2400 to 2700 pounds of dry pinto beans; and, 160 to 180 bushels of corn.

Kim series:

The Kim series consists of deep, well drained soils that formed in mixed eolian
deposits and parent sediment from a wide variety of bedrock. Kim soils are on
plains and alluvial fans. Slopes are 0 to 9 percent. Kim soils are similar to the
Colby, Otero, Shingle, and Thedalund soils and are near the Fort Collins and Olney
soils" Colby soils are more silty in all horizons. Otero soils are less than 18 percent
clay in the C horizon. Shingle and Thedalund soils have shale between 10 and 40

Rehabilitation of Seeley Lake Outlet - Feasibility Study

Page 3
