The Town also provided Wheeler with inflow, treated outflow, and water spill
data for both the 2-million-gallon (2 MG) and 1-million-gallon (1 MG) treatment plants
for the years 1999 and 2000. This data is summarized on Figures 8 and 9 and is
summarized in Table 5. Data was not available at the 2 MG plant for most of the year
2001 because of a damaged the meter. As a result, we used only the 1999 and 2000
data in our analysis. During these two years, the average annual inflow to the Town's
water treatment plants was 274 million gallons (841 acre-feet), During periods when
inflows exceeded the system demands and treated water storage capacity, excess
water was spilled at the treatment plants. This spilled water averaged 90 million
gallons (276 acre-feet) and was equivalent to 33 percent of the total inflow or 64
percent of the total metered demands. If this spilled water could be stored in the
Town's collection system, it would significantly increase the firm yield of the system.

TABLE 5
SUMMARY OF RECENT PAONIA WATER USE

Use
(gallons)
Metered Water
(Average of 1999-2001)
In-town Use 80,625,657
Out-of-town Users 24,738,417
Water Companies 26,741,227
Treated Park Water 7,387,733
Cistern Water Sales 1.726,217
Total Metered Water 141,219,250
Treatment Plant Inflows
(Average of 1990 and 2000)
2-Million Gallon Plant
Total Inflow 102,541,600
Total Spills 42,300,500
Treated Outflow 60,615,550
Metered Water 52,249.495
System Losses 8,366,055
1-Million Gallon Plant
Total Inflow 171,136,800
Total Spills 48,008,800
Treated Outflow 123,128,000
Metered Water 88,877,105
System Losses 34,250,895
Total Treatment System
Total Inflow 273,678.400
Total Spills 90,309,350
Treated Outflow 183,743,550
Metered Water 141,126,600
System Losses 42,616,950

17
