On May 28, 2002, the Paonia Town Council voted to <br />increase out-of-town tap fees to $8,500 per tap. <br /> <br />The 2002 water rates for in-town and out-of-town customers were $10,50 and <br />$12.50 per month, respectively for water use less than 50,000 gallons (per month). <br />Water rates increased with increasing use when a customer used more than 50,000 <br />gallons of watera month. In-town customers were charged an additional fee based on <br />a sliding scale of $0.50 per thousand gallons when water use exceeded 50,000 gallons <br />per month to $1.00 per thousand gallons when additional use exceeded 100,000 <br />gallons per month. Additional water rate increases for out-of-town cUlstomers ranged <br />from $1.00 per thousand gallons when water use exceeded 50,000 gallons per month <br />to $2.00 per thousand gallons when monthly water use exceeded 100,000 gallons. <br />There are no outstanding debts to the Town's water fund. A loan for a new water <br />treatment plant was paid off in the year 2001. <br /> <br />The Paonia Town Council also approved new out-of-town water rates at the <br />May 28, 2002 meeting that are intended to promote water conservation by penalizing <br />those who use excess amounts of water, The new out-of-town user rates increased to <br />$2.00 per thousand gallons monthly water use ranged from 10,000 to 15,000 gallons. <br />Water rates increased to $4.00 per thousand gallons when monthly water use ranged <br />from 15,000 to 50,000 gallons.
