Both districts would jointly build, own and operate the proposed reservoir. llWD and CWCWD jointly
own' the Carter Lake Filter: Plant that treats Colorado-Big Thompson (C-BT) water. .Currently, the filter
plant has no raw Water storage facility.. All water ~re~ted by. the plant'is delivered. directly from Carter
Lake to the fitter plant through the St Vrain Supply Canal. Consequently, the Distri~ are entirely..
dependent-on availability. of wa~er from .cart~r Lake. .In wet Years, the Districts .are unable to tr.eatarid
store all bfthe water to Which they are entitled. In dry years, the Districts can have l;l shortage 'of water
and are forced to meet their demands with water from outSide entities. In addition, any condition that
would interrupt s.upply from Carter Lake such as.mainte!la,nce to .Carter Lake. or.the St..Yrain Supply
C.anal also would cause lriteiTuption in operation of the treatment plant. The proposed project located
2-3 mile~ $outheast of Carter Lake would incl.ude construction of an. appro~mately .5200 acre-foot
reservoir, including a 40-foothigh earthen dam with emergency spillway anQ .outlet works, conversion.
ofan:existing 20-inch treated water line to a raw water Iin~-to connect the reserVoir tcdhe Filterptant,
and construction .of a 5000 GPM pump station to pump water from the reservoir to the Filter Plant.

L.c.R. 112

oo~
Sunn~
.Res.
L.c.I1.IIO.

II

L.c.R. /8

..

. . .L.c.R. /6C
_, lrf;di
... .-~'If'

Location Map

Page 6. of 6
