Evans <br />CWCS Director <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Bill Green p~ <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />DATE: April 21, 2000 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Weld County Tri-Area Sanitation District, Regional Detention Pond <br />Project <br /> <br />The following information is provided in response to the DOLA request for comments on <br />the Weld County Tri-Area Sanitation District's application for Energy Impact Assistance <br />funds for the district's proposed regional detention pond project. <br /> <br />The regional detention pond project was reviewed by the Board and by the staff of the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) in January and March of2000. The Board <br />approved two loans from the Perpetual Base Account of the Severance Tax Trust Fund <br />totaling $1,500,000. The Board's recommendation for the $1,500,000 is included in the <br />year 2000 CWCB water projects funding bill (HB 00-1419) for requested authorization <br />by the legislature. <br /> <br />Based upon our review of this project, we believe that it is technically and economically <br />feasible and that it would be highly beneficial in alleviating a severe flooding problem in <br />the district's service area.
