The construction of the regional detention facility south <br />of 8th Street in Frederick is of primary importance in alleviating flooding in the Tri-Area <br />Communities. <br /> <br />The land on which this detention facility will be built was recently annexed into the <br />Town. We are currently negotiating with the landowner for the property that will be <br />needed for the detention facility and the drainage channels. The Town will secure the <br />property through a combination of land dedication from the property owner as a <br />condition of annexation to the Town and the purchase of the remainder of the property <br />needed for the drainage facilities with funds from our open space tax.
