Chapter 11.- Project Description
Pipeline

Most of the pipe will be ductile iron pipe with cement mortar lining and polyethylene bag
wrapping, however the pipe between the pump station and the dam outlet as well as the piping
within the building will be steel with cement mortar lining. A tracer wire will be installed along
the pipeline for future locating.

Pump Station

The pump station was increased to 6,300 gpm (9 MOD) from the original 5,000 gpm (7
MOD) to provide more flexibility to the Districts. Three 3 MOD vertical turbine pumps will be
installed to deliver this flow rate. A VFD allowing flow ranges from 1.5 MOD up to 9 MOD
controls two of the pumps. The required pump head is approximately 600 feet, resulting pump
motor sizes of 400 HP for each of the pumps. A fourth bay will be provided to allow the Districts to
increase the maximum flow to 8,400 gpm (12 MOD) in the future.
The pump station architecture will consist of split faced block walls and a metal standing
seam roof. The building will contain a basement to access the pump cans and house the surge
protection system. The building dimensions will be approximately 63 feet by 38 feet.

Dry Creek Reservoir Project

8

ElCJ'VLE
