Presently Farmer's Water
Development Company runs only during the irrigation season
which supplies water during the fall, winter. and spring we
rely on decree water that was supplied by springs below the
Gurley Reservoir. These springs are no longer a source of
water because of a recent rehabilitation project on the
Gurley.. We also need to increase our raw water storage" ~e
now have less than a 15 days reliable source of water" The
type of storage 'would depend on the additional source of water
and its origin" We own a small spring that supplies
approximately 12% of our water needs.. Our treatment plant has
reached total capacity during the summer months and needs to be
upgraded to meet our sudden increases in demands because of
population increases" Our distribution system in some areas
has reached maximum load in some developed areas to a point
where we were forced to put a moratorium on taps both in town
and the Rural Water System"
We need a feasibility study to Rive us some direction on
what our options could be.. This situation is an emergency
because of the lack 0+ water and lack of available water" This
is caused partially by the present drought situation. the
rehabiliting work done on the Gurley, and the sudden increase
of tap sales.. The population of the area is anticipated to
grow because 0+ the work force needed in the Telluride area"

.
