Federal Emergency Management Agency
Washington, D.C. 20472
SEP 231998

LETTER OF MAP AMENDMENT
218-70-RS

IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO. 98-08-430A

Community: City of Fountain, Colorado
Community No.: 080061
Map Panel Affected: 08041C0958 F
Map Effective Date: March 17, 1997

We reviewed a request dated July 28, 1998, for a Letter of Map Amendment. All required information for this
request was received on September 15, 1998. Using the information submitted and the effective National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP) map, we determined portions of the property dest:ribed below are in a Special Flood
Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled or
exceeded in any given year (base flood); however, the structure on the property is not in the SFHA.

Property Description: Lot 8, Foothills Fountain Subdivision, as described in the Deed of Trust recorded
in Book 6836, Page 172, in the Office of the Recorder, EI Paso County, Colorado

Street Address: 8275 Ingle Lane

Flooding Source: Jimmy Camp West Tributary South Overflow

This letter amends the above-referenced NFIP map to remove the structure from the SFHA. The structure is now
in Zone X (unshaded), an area of minimal flooding outside the SFHA. Flood insurance coverage for the structure
may be available under a low-cost policy (see enclosed document). Because portions of the property remain in the
SFHA, any future construction or substantial improvement on the property remains subject to Federal, State, and local
regulations for floodplain management.

A portion of this property is located within the regulatory floodway for Jimmy Camp West Tributary South Overflow.
Our review indicates that all fill placed in accordance with this determination has been placed outside the regulatory
floodway. The regulatory floodway is the area that must be maintained in an unobstructed condition in order to
prevent unacceptable increases in flood levels. In accordance with Paragraph 6O.3(d)(3) of the NFIP regulations, no
encroachment (including fill) may take place within a regulatory floodway if that encroachment would cause an
increase in flood levels. The regulatory floodway is adopted and enforced by the community, and any proposed
revision to the regulatory floodway must be submitted by community officials to the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) for comment and possible revision to the NFIP map. The community should contact the Director,
Mitigation Division of FEMA in Denver, Colorado, at (303) 235-4830 for guidance on the specific information
required for the review.

The enclosed document provides additional information about Letters of Map Amendment. Magee of our staff in Washington, DC, either by telephone at
(202) 646-8242 or by facsimile at (202) 646-4596.

Sincerely,

'\~~. '\~

Matthew B.
