^ The scientific perspective could provide a flow and attribute relationship which can
describe a minimum below which the system may be damaged. This would be
information for various stakeholders.
^ Feedback loops should be included within the scientific indices.
^ There is no such thing as pure science. Information needs to be presented as a range
and not an absolute. If you are just considering flow as the solution then that is not
looking at the whole solution which could include habitat improvements.
^~Ue need a good picture of what the flow regime was that established the attribute that
we are trying to protect. If you don't look at what created it in the first place you are
starting from a point of ignorance.
~ A step that was discussed in the first nonconsumptive work group meeting was called
'triage' or where do we need quanti~cation. Given limited resources and limited time
we don't need to do quantification in areas that have high functional habitats. We
need to focus on where we are going to get the solution.
~ Has the VUatershed Flow Evaluation Tool been published? Are there reports available
that describe the approach? Has it been applied anywhere else? Answer: No, the
approach itself has not been published in a paper but pieces of the approach have
been published. Action Item: Papers and reports describing the approach will be
gathered and forwarded to those requesting them. Forward your requests to
cwsf@cdm.com.
^ Action Item: The technical team will pilot these approaches in potentially two
locations in the state so that there more detailed information available about
how the approaches performed.
~ Action Item: The next statewide nonconsumptive needs assessment meeting will
present the results of the pilot efforts and also present a more detailed update on
the roundtables' additional attributes and prioritization.
^ Action Item: The next meeting with the group will be within the next 4 months.
