Interim Guidelines for the <br />Operation of Lake Powell <br />and Lake Mead <br />D. Operations During Interim Period <br />These Guidelines implement the LROC and may be reviewed concurrently with the <br />LROC five-year review. The Secretary will base annual determinations regarding the <br />operations of Lake Powell and Lake Mead on these Guidelines unless extraordinary <br />circumstances arise. Such circumstances could include operations that are prudent or <br />necessary for safety of dams, public health and safety, other emergency situations, or <br />other unanticipated or unforeseen activities arising from actual operating experience. <br />Beginning no later than December 31, 2020, the Secretary shall initiate a formal review <br />for purposes of evaluating the effectiveness of these Guidelines. The Secretary shall <br />consult with the Basin States in initiating this review. <br />Procedures will be established for implementation of ICS and DSS by Reclamation's <br />Lower Colorado Regional Director. <br />December 2007 ROD -Colorado River Interim Guidelines for <br />56 Lower Basin Shortages and Coordinated <br />Operations for Lake Powell and Lake Mead <br />
