July 31 marks a memorable event in Colorado
history. Thirty years ago on this date, a torrential
downpour in the canyon beneath Estes Park
turned the Big Thompson River into a raging
wall of water. The flash flood washed away
homes and businesses and claimed the lives of
144 residents and tourists. The emotional and
economic impacts of one of Colorado's worst
natural disasters are still evident, but so is the
community's ability to respond and recover from
such life-altering events.
__ ~~
...., ~
.,. ~- _
"~>F'Y
_~
~ ~ hay' a ~ ~ ~ ~' a ` ' ~.
_ - - ~ ~
.~,:_
~~ ~ _ -.
_.e
~~
~ - :~ ~~
City of Loveland ~~, ~~~n ~.~-~
Thompson Valley a
Rofary Club ~~©~~
of Loveland a~D.
~,~ L
~ ~~' ~~J
~~~ OG~,>>ii~ r~f~1,°~~;~~i
