SUBJECT: Consent Agenda Items 3a and 3b, January 22-23, 2008 Board Meeting
Watershed Protection and Flood Mitigation -Designation and Approval of
100-Year Floodplain Information
Consent Agenda Items 3.a and 3.b include two floodplain studies/maps proposed for CWCB
action. Staff is requesting Board designation and approval for these items. A brief summary of
the studies is presented in the attached document,
CWCB staff performs technical reviews of floodplain information to assure the Board that the
information is in compliance with the requirements of the CWCB's "Rules and Regulations for
Regulatory Floodplains in Colorado," 2 CCR 408-1. A further discussion of legislative authority
and responsibilities delegated to the CWCB, is provided in the attached document.
The following floodplain documents are presented for designation and approval:
08-608: "Flood Insurance Study, Town of Erie, Colorado, Boulder and Weld Counties" dated
December 2, 2004, by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
08-609: "Flood Insurance Study, Larimer County, Colorado, and Incorporated Areas" dated
December 19, 2006, by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
A summary and discussion of these items is presented in the attached document.
Recommendations
As outlined in the attached document, Staff recommends that the Board: 1) designate and approve
the 100-year detailed and approximate lloodplain information contained in said reports for the
affected communities, and 2) authorize staff to prepare a floodplain resolution to be signed by the
Director and transmitted to the affected communties and FEMA. This action is recommended in
order to meet statutory requirements.
