Castle Rock Synthetic Turf Project
Application for Water Efficiency Grant
Estimates of per capita water demands (gallons per capita per day, or gpcd) are
shown in Figure 2. As shown in the equation below, per capita demands for the
service area were estimated by dividing the retail anr-ual potable water use by Castle
Rock's population.
Retail annual potable water use (gal/year)
Per Capita `Dater Demands (gpcd) _
Total population X 365 days/year
180
~ 160
a
~, 140
120
100
80
.Q
v 60
a~
a 40
~ 20
a
0
2002 2003 2004 2005 2006
Figure 2: Per Capita Water Demands
Similar to the annual water usage data presented in Figure 1, per capita water
demands in 2003 and 2004 were relatively low. As previously discussed, the decrease
in per capita water usage was likely attributable to the regional drought awareness
campaigns, Castle Rock's efforts to encourage conservation, and an abnormally wet
year n12004. Per capita demands increased slightly in 2005 and 2006, yet have not
returned to 2002 per capita water demand levels.
4
