IIFUNDING SOURCES FOR SPECIES CONSERVATION TRUST
Currently, the funding sources for the SCTF include the Severance Tax operational account.
Last year the General Assembly spent down the entire SCTF. However, the General Assembly stated
that if the March 07 projections for the severance tax operational account underestimate the amount of
monev in that fund. then up to $6 million should be transferred to the SCTF. in particular for the Platte
River Program funding. In reality the projections for the Severance Tax operational account
were underestimated by $5.36 million.
In addition, the General Assembly recommended that $2 million be transferred in 08-09, from the Severance Tax
operational account to the SCTF for the Platte River Program (and subsequent transferee occur for $4 million in
FY 09-10 and $6 million be transferred in FY 10-11).
In addition, the General Assembly in 2007 stated that if the DUSEL federal
award is granted to a state other than Colorado, then that money should be earmarked for the
SCTF. This amounted to $2 million in 07-08 and $5 million in 08-09.
