-l. Work related to Grouse conset•vation: $3,590,000 for research, monitoring, mapping,
and habitat protection and enhancement efforts.
This request focuses on recovery efforts for research, monitoring, mapping, and habitat
protection and enhancement efforts for the various grouse populations in Colorado. Specifically,
with regard to the Gunnison Sage Grouse, this request seeks $218,750 for research related to the
captive breeding effort, $125,000 for habitat enhancement and protection, and $109,000 for
habitat improvement. In addition, this request seeks $500,000 for habitat improvements on
agricultural lands and $2,067,250 for habitat enhancement associated with pinon juniper
removal.
This request also seeks funds for other grouse species within Colorado. Specifically, this
request seeks $300,000 for mapping efforts associated with the Greater Sage Grouse, $70,000 for
Columbian Sharptailed Grouse Reserve/SAFE monitoring efforts, and $200,000 for lesser prairie
habitat protection and enhancement efforts. The Staff recommends that the Board support this
request.
5. Eastern Plains Native Fish Conservation: $480,000 for new projects associated with
eastern plains native fish conset•vation.
This request seeks $80,000 for ii~-igation recharge projects that will enhance eastern
plains nati~~e fish species habitat; $100,000 for barrier identification; $150,000 for monitoring
protocols associated with reservoir management as it relates to eastern plains fish species; and
$150,000 for fish passage issues. The Staff recommends that the Board support this request.
