2.2 Technical Roundtable <br />Mission and Objectives <br />The following mission statement was adopted at <br />the first TRT meeting: <br />Develop a deeper understanding and greater <br />consensus on conservation and efficiency <br />measures for Municipal £t Industrial and <br />Agriculture <br />In addition, objectives and specific technical <br />questions were identified. The objectives were <br />never formally adopted, but were incorporated into <br />the final technical analysis and were addressed to <br />varying degrees by the TRT as described later in <br />this document. <br />Municipal and Industrial (M~eI) objectives <br />identified were: <br />~ Promote public education and information <br />sharing on M~eI programs that have been <br />successful. <br />~ Gain a greater understanding of the interplay <br />between conservation and system reliability. <br />~ Gain a greater understanding of the role <br />conservation may play as a drought reserve. <br />~ Gain a greater understanding of the economics <br />of conservation. <br />~ Gain a greater understanding of current <br />conservation levels and practices. <br />~ Identify the role conservation might play in <br />addressing the water supply gap between <br />current supplies and future demand. <br />~ Identify the role conservation might play in <br />creating water for the environment. <br />~ Identify (quality of life) impacts with and <br />without expanded levels of conservation. <br />~ Evaluate effects of conservation on the urban <br />landscape. <br />The following comments were made by TRT <br />members on the draft mission statement and <br />objectives: <br />Section 2 <br />Conservation and Efficiency Technical Roundtable <br />~ Local providers (both for agriculture and M~eI) <br />are the ultimate decisionmakers on water <br />supply needs SWSI can suggest or <br />recommend measures that these groups can <br />consider but it is not the ultimate <br />decisionmaking authority. <br />~ During this TRT the consequences and benefits <br />of using conservation alternatives need to be <br />identified. <br />~ Deeper understanding of the issues can lead to <br />greater insight. <br />~ How is SWSI interacting with other statewide <br />planning efforts such as population and land use <br />issues? <br />FINAL DRAFT 2-3 <br />Road Median Before and After Landscape <br />Retrofit <br />
