ABSTRACT <br /> <br />. <br />An exploratory program was conducted in the vicinity <br />of the Mogollon Rim of Arizona during the period from <br />mid~January to mid-March, 1987. The purpose of the <br />study was to examine the suitability of winter clouds, <br />for possible future weather modification activities, <br />aimed'at enhancing winter precipitation on Arizona's <br />high plateau region. <br /> <br />Climatological analyses of precipitation and supercooled <br />liquid water, during storms affecting the Mogollon Rim <br />are presented. Transport and dispersion studies, utilizing <br />sulfur. hexafluoride gas as a tracer, were also done <br />to simulate the release of silver iodide seeding material <br />from potential ground-based seeding sites. <br /> <br />Results of microphysical and transport and dispersion <br />studies, conducted previously on the Grand Mesa of western <br />Colorado during an earlier phase of this contract, are <br />briefly discussed. <br /> <br />17.
