Primary operations were
conducted in Area 2, since it was the least restricted by
aircraft usage conflicts. Areas 1 and 3, which had the smallest
area and the most operating restrictions respectively, were
studied much less intensively.

2.2 Objectives and Approach for the 1986-87 Pield Season

Despite the fact that the field research area shifted
to a portion of the Colorado River drainage in Arizona instead
of Colorado, the major objectives of the CRADP remained unchanged.
Specific objectives of the exploratory program were to:

1) Examine the frequency of occurrence, amounts, and
spatial and temporal distribution of supercooled
liquid water (SLW).

2) Examine the meteorological conditions associated
with the occurrence of SLW and estimate their importance
in its production or depletion.

2-2
