PHABSIM data from Denver Water indicates that the minimum
flow necessary for physical habitat is 50 cfs. This study was used
to establish the CWCB instre~ flow. Stream chalUlel habitat
improvements are currently b,ing designed as part of a cooperative
project between local interests, USPS, DW and others. This
project will likely change low' flow aquatic life requirements.

Optimum Flows:

Basis: Barry Nehring's CDOW F-51 (7/88) report recommends a
55 cfs minimum and 100 cfs Qptimum flow for allUfe stages of
brown trout. .

SpecIfic Exceptions: 1. Releases in the range from: 55 to 125 cfs should not increase
more than 15% over a 24-hour period (e.g. over 6 days instead of2
days).
2. Above 125 cfs, changes hi releases should track with the rate of
change in the inflow hydrogr~ph for the reservoir.

Problem Identified: 1, Reservoir releases that decrease after spawning result in
freezing ofredds and stranding of adults and emerging fry.
2. Inadequate flows do not provide necessary physical habitat for
firn. :

140 cfs (7/16 - 9/30)*
100 cfs (10/1 - 4/30)*

also concern by TV regardirig lowest flows during spring runoff
