<br />On the Colorado River most of the commercial rafting occurs downstream of Gore Canyon and <br />so below the UPCO study area. Gore Canyon is a difficult and dangerous section of the River <br />for commercial rafting, but is being utilized commercially more often now. Flows from the <br />UPCO study area are essential for commercial operation in Gore Canyon and on downstream" <br />Commercial rafters are able to accommodate a wide range of Colorado River flows. Following <br />is a description of the commercial rafting flow needs for the Colorado River below Kremmling. <br />Flows in Gore Canyon adequately describe the flow needs downstream~ <br /> <br />Gore Canyon <br /> <br />Low Water: <br />High Water~. <br /> <br />Approx. 400 c.f.s. <br />Approx. > 11,000 c.f.s. <br /> <br />Optimum: <br /> <br />2,000-3,000 c.f.s. <br /> <br />Comments: <br /> <br />The Colorado River gage at Kremmling is located at the upper end <br />of the Gore Canyon with no additional diversions in the canyoll4 <br />Therefore, the Kremmling gage should accurately reflect <br />conditions in the Gore Canyon. <br /> <br />Information provided by Nick Quintana, Monarch Guides <br /> <br />(Most recreational activities in Grand County occur on the Upper Colorado for example from <br />~ Pumphouse to Rancho Del Rio.) <br /> <br />C:\2001 UPCO\UPCO Report on Rafting Flows.doc <br />
