Blue River at Breckenridge Kayak Course (phase 1 & 2)

The Town of Breckenridge has constructed a recreational in-channel diversion for "put and play"
kayakers~ The design of the course provides for multiple hydraulics in which kayakers can
perform a variety of maneuvers without having to descend downstream~ The ability to make
these moves is dependent on flow, too little flow limits the energy in the river and too much flow
washes out the hydraulic in the man-made structure~ A variety of special events are done at the
kayak park when flows are adequate~ Since the course is relatively new the full extent of
financial impacts to the Town of Breckenridge from the inability to use the course is not fully
determined~

Season~.

May through July

Put ln~.
Take Out:
Segment:

Breckenridge Recreation Center bike path bridge
Above Cemetery Road
Approximately 1/4 mile

Minimum~.

Approx. 100 efs as measured at the Four Mile Bridge SEO gage
approximately 3 miles downstream from the course~

Optimum:

500 + efs.
